Turning Point
Around the year 1440, a man named Johannes Gutenberg invented a machine that would soon change the world as we know it, the printing press. Before this invention, literacy rates were extremely low because there were barely any books to read. The printing press made the mass production of books available. After this, literacy rates shot through the ceiling. Also, religion was greatly effected by the printing press. Many bibles were printed and this allowed people to make their own interpretations about religion. People did not have to rely on words anymore either. They could rely on written documents as more liable sources. The printing press also sped up the spread of the Renaissance, which was probably the biggest time period of improvements in the history of mankind. The printing press had so many amazing affects and is most definitely one of the biggest turning points ever.
